The braking system used on 1988 Chevrolet Corvette is a four-wheels disc, power-assisted system. Each of the wheels has an aluminum caliper with a cylindrical piston inside it. Hydraulic pressure created by pushing on the brake pedal forces the piston and caliper body to move, in effect claming against the moving rotor.
